Gran Alacant is located directly by the sea, on the charming sandy beach of Carabassi, which has boasted the Blue Flag for many years. Adjacent to the beach is a wide stretch of dunes with tropical vegetation under protection and a nature reserve forming part of the so-called El Paraje Natural Municipal Clot de Galvany. The nature park separates Gran Alacant to the north from the village of Arenales del Sol, which is lively in high season and offers all the usual attractions of a tourist destination. The two villages are connected by a beautiful palm-shaded seafront promenade, a favourite place for afternoon and evening strolls; and it takes approximately 40 minutes to walk from one village to the other.
